yes, lettuce is fine to feed. Try and feed the more colorful types such rather than iceberg as they will have more nutritional value.

Yes. Mine prefer spinach, dandelion greens, kale and collards. I havent tried much else as Im not really a salad eater, the crabs get their own bushels of that stuff cleaned, wraped ina paper towel, and stored in a ziplock in the fridge.

My site doesn't have a safe foods list, but a "harvestables" list. There aren't too many types of lettuce on there because I haven't gotten around to doing it.

But, as you stated, the darker the better. Romaine, swiss chard, kale, and mustard greens are all very delicious and nutricious.

They can have it, but the lighter the color the less nutritional value it has...the pale lettuce has pretty much no vitamins or minerals in it, you might as well just give them a dish of water.

This color of lettuce has more nutrients

than

This color of lettuce

The lighter the color of green the less nutrients it contains. The less nutrients it contains the less your hermit crabs are going to benefit from it.

with veggies, the darker the green or the brighter the colour (red, yellow, orange etc) the more vitamins and minerals they usually have... so feed the darkest green you can find ;)
